Pregnant Kenya Moore is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first child, and it looks like she will get to meet her baby sooner than she expected.
The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star has revealed she has been diagnosed with preeclampsia and will need to deliver her baby early as a result of the condition.
“Tests confirmed I do have preeclampsia today. I will have to deliver #babydaly early, but I’m being closely monitored to determine when," she posted on social media.
Preeclampsia typically develops suddenly in women who previously had normal blood pressure after the 20-week pregnancy mark, according to the Mayo Clinic. In addition to sudden weight gain and swelling, preeclampsia symptoms could include severe headaches, shortness of breath, nausea, upper abdominal pain, blurred vision, impaired liver and kidney function and decreased urine output.
Left untreated, preeclampsia can be fatal, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Kenya Moore had a feeling she was suffering from preeclampsia after she gained 17 pounds in one week and experienced extremely swollen feet.
