A Thanksgiving night shooting at a mall in Alabama left two people injured and a gunman dead, authorities said Thursday.
Late Thursday night, a gunman opened fire Riverchase Galleria, just south of Birmingham injuring two people, including a 12-year-old girl, officials said.
According to Independent, police said a fight between two teenagers resulted in an exchange of gunfire. One of the teenagers fled but was confronted by two Hoover police officers. During a News confrence Captain Gregg Rector revealed that a Hoover officer “did engage that individual, shot him and he is dead on the scene.”
The 18-year-old victim who got shot is believed to be in serious condition. Police said a 12-year-old girl was also struck by gunfire and was taken to hospital. She received surgery for a single bullet wound but “does not have life-threatening injuries.”
At this time, police have not released the names of the victims or gunman. The Riverchase Galleria has also decided to close until further notice.
