Jessica Padgett was meant to marry the love of her life on September 29.
Instead, the grieving bride wore her wedding dress to visit her fiance’s grave on the day they were meant to exchange vows.
Ten months earlier Kendall James Murphy, a US volunteer firefighter, was killed by an alleged drunk driver while rushing to helping a car crash victim in Daviess County, Indiana.
Another volunteer firefighter who also responded to the scene allegedly turned up drunk, with a reported blood alcohol content level of .21 percent. Blood alcohol content level at that rate is almost three times the legal limit. The man allegedly hit the 27-year-old Murphy, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Murphy was a “selfless man of God who loved spending time with family and friends,” according to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Reported by Fox 59, his wife, with the help of photographer Mandi Knepp, honored his memory with a photo shoot in her wedding dress.
