Tamar Braxton shocked the audience present during a taping of The Wendy Williams Show. She revealed the unexpected news that she was molested during her childhood.
It is thought that Tamar made the revelations on the show as they discussed her family’s recent sit down with Iyanla Vanzant, an inspirational speaker and life coach who was aiming to help the Braxton family with their troubles.
It’s unclear if something during the meeting with Iyanla triggered Tamar’s memory, or if she just felt comfortable talking to Wendy about the incident.
Wendy pressed her and that’s when Tamar revealed she’d been molested by members of both sides of her family,’ a source reportedly told TMZ, adding that it left Wendy and the audience ‘stunned’.
Tamar and her sisters – Toni, Traci, Trina and Towanda – star in WE tv’s Braxton Family Values and Tamar told fans earlier in the year that much of her family’s past drama could be blamed on the show. ‘We STARTED having major OVER THE TOP family issues because some network wanted to compete with old love and hip hop numbers, And felt that our family was to “perfect” and “unrelatable”,’ Tamar said in June. ‘Our problems are JUST like everyone else’s.. AND this BLACK FAMILY IS FINE THE WAY WE ARE!’
However earlier in September, Tamar took to Twitter to call Iyanla a ‘devil’ after the entire Braxton family filmed with the life coach; she later deleted the tweets.
