A Chicago man who goes by the name of ZackTV, or Zachary Stoner died after being shot in the head while driving early Wednesday, causing a crash in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood, according to police.
Authorities said the fatal incident began as a dispute in the 600 block of South Clark Street in Printer’s Row at around 1:30 a.m.
The 30-year-old victim was driving a Jeep when a Chevy Caprice approached and someone inside opened fire, striking the man in the head and neck area, officials said.
The man then crashed his car near the intersection of South Clark Street and West Polk Street, according to police.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality and further details, including his identity, were not available.
The suspects in the shooting ran out of their car and into another Jeep before fleeing the scene, according to police – an escape that a witness who lives in a high-rise above captured on video.
Area residents were startled by the early morning crime.
“It’s scary,” said Claire Alshuler. “There’s been growth in this neighborhood and it seems there’s been an increase in crimes, thefts and stuff,” she continued, adding, “I’m more careful.”
No one is in custody in connection with the shooting as authorities continue to investigate.
