After giving plenty of clues about the sex of her baby on the way, Cardi B has confirmed that she’s having a baby girl. As People reports, she made the announcement during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show Tuesday. When the host asked her if she knew the sex of her baby, Cardi B replied, “Yes. I’m having a girl.” And now, fans are thrilled for the rapper and mom-to-be all over again.
Cardi was dropping hints that her baby on the way is a little girl while catching up with the New York Times right before Monday’s Met Gala. She repeatedly referred to the baby-to-be as “she."
“Shorty weighs three and a half pounds," the mom-to-be said while describing the heaviness of her Met Gala look.
“She do," Cardi B said, according to the Times. “She do weigh three and a half pounds. That’s pretty good for seven months, right? Because I was born five pounds."
The 25-year-old “Be Careful" rapper also spoke of her daughter while speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the Met Gala red carpet.
“Oh, she wants to fight me!" Cardi B said to ET of her baby kicking. “[My dress weighs] about 35 pounds plus baby. It’s okay though, I used to go up the project stairs."
The official confirmation comes after she confirmed her pregnancy on Saturday Night Live last month, and opened a basket of gifts from late-night host Jimmy Fallon that included a cheetah-print fur coat and bedazzled bottle. Many saw the hints then that she was having a girl.
Cardi B revealed during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that Offset has already named their daughter.
“My dude named the baby," she said. “I really like the name."
When the talk-show host asked for more details Cardi B said she’s leaving it up to her fiance to let the baby’s name out.
“I’m gonna let him say the name since he named the baby."
The rapper told Stern the same when he asked.
“You know what? I didn’t pick the name. So if you interview my dude, he will tell you."
