Three women told the New York Times that they were raped by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons in incidents dating back to 1988.
Russell Simmons denied the accusations as the details horrified him:
“These horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual.“
“I have enormous respect for the women’s movement worldwide and their struggle for respect, dignity, equality and power”
Simmons previously stepped down from his companies after two women accused him of sexual misconduct. Jenny Lumet and Keri Claussen Khalighi reported the music mogul forced them into sexual acts in the 1990s. He added on to his previous statement:
“I have already apologized for the instances of thoughtlessness in my consensual relations. I have separated myself from my businesses and charities in order to not become a distraction,”
The three women were identified as Drew Dixon, Tina Baker, and Toni Sallie. Dixon explained to the New York Times of how Simmons would explicitly describe how he aroused her, ask her to sit on his lap, and exposed his erect penis. She says he raped her in his Manhattan home.
Baker stated Simmons would invite her to his apartment to discuss business and would force himself on her. Sallie dated Simmons for a while and said she was invited back to his apartment. She claims Simmons pushed her onto the bed and physically attacked her.
