Target Customer Discovers Crack Pipe In Shipment Of Baby Clothes

A New Jersey mother made a disturbing discovery when she opened a package she’d purchased from Target. In addition to the winter clothing she’d purchased for her three and five-year-old children, she also found something else – a broken crack pipe. Now, Target is at the center of controversy as the retailer struggles to determine how the item ended up in the package. A woman named Michel Verdi Krymis recently shared details about the item her sister found in the box.

A Disturbing Find:

During a recent interview with The Blast, Krymis detailed her sister’s discovery when the package was delivered on December 9. “When she opened the box, with her kids next to her, the clothes weren’t even folded, just thrown in there,” Krymis told the publication.  She said that Toni “started taking everything out of the box when a crack pipe mixed in with the clothes fell onto the floor.” The woman immediately contacted the Harrison Township Police Department to file a report. When Toni contacted Target’s customer service department, the representative actually attempted to flip the script. “They asked my sister if she had ordered the crack pipe on Target.com and told her they couldn’t help her.” Then, to make matters worse, when she requested to exchange the clothing that had come in contact with the presumably contaminated crack pipe, the representative offered no resolution. “The manager told her she can re-order the clothes at the regular price. It’s not a huge difference, but she’s a working mom with two kids and the price difference is significant enough,” Krymis said. Now, she’s gone public with her complaint in hopes of resolving the issue.

Damage Control?:

In wake of the growing controversy surrounding the mysterious package, Target has released a statement. The massive retailer claims to have reviewed the surveillance footage at the location where the items had been shipped from. After reviewing the video, Target does not believe the item was placed in the box at the store location and may have been added at some point after the box left the retailer’s facility. However, Target has offered a full refund for the items that were purchased. “We’re aware of the situation and take allegations like this seriously. Once this claim was brought to our attention, we conducted an investigation and reviewed the security video from the store where the items were shipped. After a full review, we don’t believe the item was put into the package at a Target store, and instead was added after it left our facility. However, we’ve been in contact with the guest and refunded her for the full purchase.”
