Gigionthat.com has learned The brother of actress Stacey Dash, Darien Dash, may have prison in his future, as he is being accused of running a Ponzi scheme responsible for conning pro-athletes out of millions of dollars.
Dash, a former internet entrepreneur, once headed Pro Player Funding, a Manhattan subsidiary of now-disgraced hedge fund Platinum Partners, whose execs were arrested last year on securities and wire fraud charges, accused of running a $1 billion Ponzi scheme.
Apparently, back in 2011, Darien Dash swooped in during the NFL lockout to talk players into taking loans with huge interest rates and shady terms to keep cash flowing while their team paychecks were on hold. Former NFL quarterback Vince Young, Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie and others are just some of the players scammed by Darien and his cohorts.
Pro Player Funding heads to court with somewhat of a dirty reputation. While pursuing players the Dash headed company was actually a subsidiary of the Platinum Partners hedge fund that wound up getting taken down for securities and wire fraud last year. Six Platinum Partners executives, including founder Mark Nordlicht were arrested as a result of a $1 billion scheme.
It’s not clear if Dash is facing criminal charges, lawsuits, or both, but regardless, it looks like a bad situation for him. Wonder what Stacey will have to say about this?
