Launching on Tuesday, the world’s favorite coffee chain will be offering up a new lunch menu at over 100 Chicago locations in an effort to up its food game. The “Mercato” menu will feature a range of grab-and-go options, including sandwiches, salads, and sides.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the menu will cater to a variety of diets, from vegan to high-protein to gluten free. The most notable items on the menu include a Cubano sandwich, roasted carrot and kale salad, chunky almond butter and strawberry sandwich, and seared steak and mango salad. Prices for the salads range from $8 to $9, and the sandwiches range from $5 to $8. According to USA Today, any remaining lunch items at the end of the day will be donated to local food banks via the Starbucks FoodShare program.
While there’s no set date on when Starbucks fans can expect to see the “Mercato” menu outside of Chicago, a press release suggests that if the launch is successful, the new lunch items will be available nationwide.
… You hear that, Chicago?! The world is depending on you!
