The incident occured on Tuesday at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Columbus, Ohio against valet worker Terrence Artis Gaines II, 24. Love can be seen in the video grabbing Gaines from the back of his neck, slamming him to the ground and into a desk, then aggressively pushing Gaines back down as he tried to regain his balance.
After airport workers were able to seperate the two men and call security, police reports showed Gaines was left with a cut above his eye. According to the DailyMail, the 48 year old comedian’s defense attorney John Moore revealed the altercation stemmed from a ‘disagreement over payment.”
Moore continued with, “My client did try to back away from the situation, he was kind of overwhelmed, there were several individuals speaking to him about the situation.”
Love pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Franklin County Municipal Court and was shortly released on $2,000 bond. If convicted, the comedian could serve up to six months in jail alongside pay a $1,000 fine.
