Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested by the UCLA Police Department on Monday on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, which was a kettlebell.

Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, is a defensive back on the football team.

UCLA director of community relations Nancy Greenstein confirmed the arrest to USA TODAY Sports and the university issued a statement saying the altercation took place at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex.

TMZ reported that Diddy, 45, got into a dispute with WCLA assistant football coach, Sal Alosi, a former New York Jets strength coach who was suspended by the NFL in 2010 for tripping a player.

No one was seriously injured, and the campus police department continues to investigate the matter. The hip-hop music mogul was expected to be transported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center later on Monday evening.

“I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation,” UCLA coach Jim Mora said in a statement issued through the school. “This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

Combs, a 5-foot-7 redshirt junior, played in a combined seven games for the Bruins over the past two seasons as a reserve in the secondary while also playing on special teams. He has four career tackles.
