The Fox hit has enlisted Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys for guest starring roles in the upcoming second season, the network announced to advertisers at its upfront presentation in New York on Monday.
While its first season comprised 12 episodes, its second will add six more, bringing its total to 18 episodes.
Much like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, Empire’s second season will be split in half, with nine episodes set to air this fall and the back nine next year.
Grammy winner Ne-Yo has also signed on to write new music with Timbaland for the musical drama.
